Aaron Cox

Aaron grew up in the small town of Lovell, Wyoming. Football, wrestling, and baseball had to compete with hunting and fishing for his attention. He received a degree in construction management from BYU. He now lives in Atlanta with his wife Marie, son Christopher, and daughters Amber and Susanne.

Aaron can be visualized here, and his creator is pictured to the right.

Get Off the Speculation Train May 30, 2005

Aaron @ 7:23 am

I had an experience on my mission, a triple coincidence that had a big impact on me. We were counseled recently in General Conference from Elder Bednar that coincidences are how we can percieve the Lords hand in our lives. This teaching was a renewed confirmation to me of the importance of the principle I discuss here. (more…)

Contention Is Not of Me June 2, 2005

Aaron @ 1:02 pm

Not of the Savior, that is. I wish I could say not of me, Aaron. I am sad to see that on my very first thread things got a little heated.

We’re all brethren here. (Oh and for Miranda, sisters too.) We need to stay cloaked in charity like a mantle. Like my mom always said to her rough housing sons, it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. When speaking about something close to my heart I speak too bluntly. I don’t have Pres. Hinckley’s talent for being soft spoken and diplomatic.

God’s Forgiveness, God’s Trust June 9, 2005

Aaron @ 8:33 pm

I know I promised to post again on worldly learning, there are several things to clear up. But something Mari said sparked a thought that I feel impressed to share first. Mari spoke of some difficulty with her mother, I have no idea what it is. I’m surprised, how much trouble could a middle-aged woman possibly cause? Middle-aged women seem sweet and harmless to me. But anyway the issue that came up is the difference between forgiveness and trust. We are required to forgive all men. But we don’t have to trust them. And from God, we want God not just to forgive us but to trust us. And in this we come to the great things of eternity.

Secondary Education.
Education for Mortality.

Aaron @ 3:05 pm

Some may have gotten a wrong impression from my first post. Namely that I don’t think education has any value. This is not correct. Some commenters pointed out how much President Hinckley talks about education. Which I agree with. But we have to listen carefully to what he says. And place it in an overall eternal perspective. Clearing up this misconseption is the first of several points raised by my commenters that I will dignify with a post. So don’t despair those of you whose deep insiteful comments seemed to go unanswered. I may just be biding my time to address them in a post when I can set aside enough time. (more…)

Many are called, but few are chosen.
Many are cold, but few are frozen.

I kept meaning to comment on Miranda’s post on divorce. But now there’s so many comments I’m afraid the important things I have to say would get overlooked. So why not take advantage of my chance as a blogger here to make a whole post out of it and thereby shake the earth as with the voice of a trump. I know I promised another post on learning. I know the intellectual types, most of you, are anxious to be confounded again by the weak and simple, me. Don’t worry. I’ll get to that other post next week. But now, hearken! I have three points related to Miranda’s post. (more…)

By the Power of His Almighty Word July 27, 2005

Aaron @ 3:52 pm

In my Secondary Education post I left out one branch of learning. Science. Why did I leave out Science in explaining why the various other kinds of learning I discussed will not be needed in eternity. Well because it seems to be more closely related to God’s created works. It seems at first like something that will actually be useful in eternity. To create worlds without number. So I felt good about this when taking science and engineering classes. Which I had to take a few. Because construction management is in the College of Engineering. I liked the thought of God being the great Architecht and Engineer of the universe. (more…)

Aaron @ 11:45 pm

I’m glad to see that in my absence the blog was kept plenty busy by such weighty matters. Like makeup on men. And hand wringing about characters like DKL. And old farts going country dancing. And fake boobs. And boobs in the moonlight, not so alone after all. Sorry to be sarcastic. Don’t get me wrong. Except for makeup on men I don’t have anything against the above stuff. For example I’ve had some fun country dancing. And I’ll admit I’m as intriged by boobs as the next guy. But not fake boobs. A pair of well formed natural B’s or even A’s really, beat fake D’s any day in my book. Though I’m sure we all could agree, that a pair of exsquisit natural C’s is among the most supernal of divine creations. Especially when they… Well, but now I guess I’m getting carried away. C’s and D’s were not the kind of weighty matters I had in mind when I started this paragraph. (more…)

Ye cannot overthrow it October 16, 2005

Aaron @ 7:46 pm

A reader recently sent an email to the Banner. And my cobloggers decided I would be the best one to answer it. Here is the question posed to us by Aaron Shafovaloff.

What do you think of the chart on MormonInfo.org?
Aaron, I am glad to answer this question. It is a special pleasure since, like me your also named Aaron. (more…)

A New Begining November 5, 2006

Aaron @ 1:25 pm

When my fellow bloggers here all wrote a final post as the Banner finished last year I didnt particapate. It felt too much like a high school graduation or something I guess. Or maybe I should say COMENCMENT. To prove I too can use big words just like, the rest of you all with your big fat advanced degrees. The thing is I didnt want a comencment. No. What I wanted was a new begining. (more…)
